– Origin of Hindu Law

Dharmasastra does not contain the word 'Hindu'. It has a foreign origin. Greeks were the first to coin the term "Hindu" and used to refer to the Indus Valley nation's residence as "India". It was later renamed "Hindu".

This nation was later known as 'Hindustan', and its inhabitants as Hindu. The term 'Hindu' is used in history to refer to a religion and a country. Through centuries, the Hindu law has been evolving and has been around for at least 5000 years.

It has also been able to regulate the social and moral figures of Hindu life through the various elements of Hindu cultural life.

– Concept of Dharma

We all know that Dharma refers to Hindu law. Let me clarify. According to Hindu Mythology, "Dharma" means "duty." Dharma can have different meanings depending on the context and religious references.

Dharma, according to Hindu Jurisprudence, means duties in many ways, as in the social duties, legal duties, and spiritual duties. This context allows us to refer to Dharma as the concept of justice.
